Do you know the secret behind the success of Amazon? That’s the power of silence. Do you know how the US tracked Usama Bin Laden? It’s unacceptable, but that was because the person he was living with failed to understand the power of silence and revealed the truth to some extent.

So, it’s compulsory for safe living to recognize the real power of silence.

In this video, I’m gonna tell you four powers of silence. The exciting examples with them will amazingly prove my words. Stay tuned till the end, as I’ll also cover the way Amazon became successful. You’ll see how the power of silence was involved.

So, let’s begin.

1. Understanding Others’ Intentions:

According to the famous American author Stephen Richards Covey, people don’t listen to others to understand their words but to decide what to respond to. We think we can dominate others by speaking more about different facts. But that’s just an illusion! Once you don’t know others’ intentions, you can never dominate them. But continuous speaking will help others understand you better, and they can get the negative use of it.

So, while conversing with anyone, try speaking less and observing others more.

2. Saving Your Secrets:

Yesterday, I was waiting for my friend in the park. Suddenly, I met my colleague there. He joined me and tried to talk so both of us could pass the time with each other. Just after saying a few words, he became silent. It felt strange to be quiet in response. To cover the communication gap between us, I began talking. I didn’t realize, but I went so far on the way to the discussion that the destination was full of thorns.

After my colleague went, I realized how many secret things I had shared with him. When I discussed the matter with my friend, his response was hilarious to me. “Oh, you were just manipulated by an experienced person who knows dark psychology very well.”

My friend told me it was the technique used by experienced manipulators to reveal others’ secrets, and I had been trapped very strongly.

3. Better Decision-Making:

I have seen many people in my life being embarrassed due to sudden responses. They try to be overconfident by sharing their ideas just after listening to someone. On the other hand, people who remain silent for a little moment to think about their words before speaking remain successful. People value their words and love listening to them again and again.

Silence is also so helpful if you’ve to make a decision in response to someone’s question. For example, your boss asks, “will you be available for work today for three extra hours?” Quickly saying “no” can cause a big problem for you. On the other hand, if you remain silent for a while and think about the answer, you can better sort out the problem. For example, you can respond like, “of course, I would love to give more time to my company. But the work you want can be done better with my team. Is it possible for you to convince six other people to stay here at night”?

4. Beating Your Competitors:

Before we further consider this point, let me clarify that there’s a difference between being “silent” and “quiet.” Being quiet is making no noise. Silence can have the same meaning, but it’s also part of another world of thoughts where successful people exist. Silent in that world means “not sharing your thoughts and plans with anyone.” Jeff Bezos, the owner of Amazon, used the same technique.

He is a gifted speaker who can inspire anyone through his words. But he veiled his company’s specific secrets for a specific time. He was using a simple technique that would give him huge success in the future. Amazon was a public business, but even after that, he didn’t show it in his annual reports. If he exposed everything, his competitors would use his terminologies and repel his customers.

So, always remember these powers of silence to use terminologies involved with them in a better way and always remain successful in your private and professional life.

Before you leave, share in comments whether you have ever felt someone dominating you using the power of silence. See you in the next exciting video.
